Next, you need to be patient. Editorial conventions are thrown out the window here. This book is a collection of emails. They aren't edited for standard grammar or spelling or sentence structure necessarily. She publishes them as-is and I think that's great. They read exactly as what they are: emails between lovers. I'd use a word like "versimilitude" to describe the writing except she isn't faking anything...

I like reading erotica. My wife? Not so much. Having grown up rather sheltered, she always passes when I offer to let her read from my collection of books. One reason is that she doesn't like reading about cheating stories, or people who meet for one night stands.

Great Story Spoiled by Printing Errors
Wow, what a shame.

This looks to be a very interesting read. The narrator's voice is intimate and real - nothing shy or coy or fake about it. The story line seems believable. The subject matter is hot. The characters develop in unexpected yet internally consistent ways...

... at least I think so...

The trouble is, it looks like the printer really screwed up.

Ever get a Word doc from someone at the office - a doc they're in the middle of editing? Ever notice what happens if they haven't accepted all the edits yet or haven't set the doc to show final markups? Ever try printing that doc?

This book looks like a case study in why you need to *preview* before you print.

There are bizarre editing errors in every paragraph, stuff like,

Yes, that line break is in there. The book is littered with examples like this. Not one...

This book is extraordinary. It provides first-person narratives on a wide variety of sex-positive practices/experiences, and also argues that such practices/experiences are normal. Reading this book should make any woman feel more comfortable with the thoughts/wants/needs she has that may seem to be anti-feminist in nature.

Personally, as a feminist-identified stripper, I was thrilled to see that such a book had been compiled. Each narrative is intelligent and edited perfectly. At times the stories are hilarious, at other times sad. Its honesty is unbelievably refreshing (feminists DO experience seemingly-anti-feminist feelings), and inspiring. You can read this book all the way through, or you can peruse different subjects and read the (relatively) short essays one-by-one.

I've read a number of Lauren Dane's novels and have always liked her voice, both in her paranormal, and contemporary work. Megan Hart is new to me, although I do have "Stranger", in my TBR. I found their combined voices in this novel to be wonderful. I got to know these characters easily and despite the strong personalities of the men and women I could sense their vulnerabilities and angst in taking tentative first steps in new relationships. I have to say the dry wit and clever verbal sparring, particularly between "Kate and Dix", and certainly some of the sarcasm, had me laughing out loud.

I admit it. I'm a junkie for online reviews, and when I read the reviews for The Heat Seekers, I wanted to read it bad. Having been a fan of Zane's for several years, I just had to see what all the drama was about. After I read the novel, I came back to these reviews, and I was pretty confused. Zane has kicked her writing to a whole other level, and this is probably one of my better readings by Zane. I think people expect a writer to stay within the confinement of one genre or style of writing without realizing that a true writer will grow, will mature, and will tackle a variety of styles in his or her writing.
